Salt Washery Plant
The salt washery is designed based on the study made on the raw salt and the impurities identified
in it. The raw salt is fed into the feed hopper and transferred to the screw washing system by a belt
conveyor. There are magnetic separators before the salt is fed to the screw washery to remove iron
debris. Also there is a picking platform for seating two pickers to pick clay and other visible debris
that may come with the raw salt from salt farms. The screw washery has two stages of washing in
which the soluble and insoluble impurities are removed. The first process is the removal of
impurities by concurrent flow of high density brine and the second process is removal of impurities
by spray water arrangement in the top of the washery. The salt then is passed to a chain belt
conveyor with spray arrangement which help washing and de-water the brine from the salt. Finally
the salt is stacked in piles with the help of a stacker for draining and sun-drying. In this process a
Roller crusher can be added before the screw washery if sizing of salt crystals is required
